Short answer

Trust Wallet logoChoose Trust Wallet if…

Your phone is your main device, and you want the widest chain coverage.

Visit Trust Wallet
Exodus logoChoose Exodus if…

You want a desktop wallet, or you pair with a Trezor. Note its built-in exchange quotes a rate with a spread already inside it — that is not the market price.

What each one is actually good at

Trust Wallet logoTrust Wallet

Covers far more chains than MetaMask, including non-EVM ones, so it is often the only wallet holding an entire mixed portfolio.

Worth knowing. Binance-owned, and the mobile-first design means the browser extension is the weaker half. Broad chain support also means broad exposure to scam tokens appearing in your balance.

Exodus logoExodus

The most approachable desktop wallet, and one of the few self-custody wallets from a company that files public accounts.

Worth knowing. The built-in exchange is a third-party swap with a spread baked into the quoted rate, so the price you see is not the market price. Closed source.

What do they cost?

Both are one-off hardware purchases, and both run several models at different prices. We do not reprint a price list — it would be wrong the next time either runs a sale — so here are the official shops:

Buy direct from the manufacturer, never from a marketplace listing. A hardware wallet bought second-hand or from a reseller can arrive pre-initialised with somebody else’s recovery phrase, and the coins leave the moment you fund it. How to choose one →

Frequently asked questions

Which is easier for a complete beginner?

Exodus is the more polished experience and the one people find friendlier, particularly on desktop. Trust Wallet is mobile-first and covers more chains. Both are self-custody, so the important part — that you hold the keys and the responsibility — is identical.

Are the built-in swaps a good deal?

They are convenient and you pay for the convenience, typically through the spread rather than a visible fee. For small amounts that is a fair trade; for larger ones it is worth comparing against doing the same swap elsewhere before pressing the button.

Does a nicer interface mean less secure?

No, but it can mean less visible. The risk with any polished wallet is that it makes signing feel routine. Whatever you use, the transaction detail is the thing to read, and a smooth flow is exactly when people stop reading it.

Availability changes. Regulators bar platforms, platforms withdraw from markets, and this page was last checked on 2026-08-05 — confirm on the platform’s own terms that it serves your country before you sign up.

And whichever you pick, the device is the easy half. The recovery phrase is what actually protects the coins — how to store one properly matters more than which brand you bought.
