About Cosmos
Cosmos is less a single chain than a toolkit: the Cosmos SDK and IBC let independent chains be built and talk to each other, and ATOM is the staking token of the Cosmos Hub at the centre of that network. ATOM has no supply cap. Instead, inflation floats to push the share of staked ATOM toward a target, which is why its headline yield is among the highest of the majors β and why holding ATOM without staking it means being diluted by everyone who does.
Cosmos Hub fees are a fraction of a cent, but IBC transfers between chains add a step and a small fee on each side β the practical cost is the validator commission, not gas.
ATOM trades well below its previous highs and is unusually sensitive to Hub governance decisions on inflation, which have repeatedly repriced the token's yield story.

Frequently asked questions
οΌDoes ATOM have a maximum supply?
No fixed cap is published for Cosmos, which is why no maximum is shown on this page β we leave the figure out rather than invent a denominator. Circulating supply was 522.9 million ATOM as of 3 August 2026. Without a cap, the number that matters is the net issuance rate: new supply minus anything burned, as a percentage per year.
οΌCan I stake ATOM, and what does it pay?
Yes. Delegate to a validator from your own wallet β the ATOM never leaves your control. Validators charge a commission with a 5% protocol minimum, and the community pool takes a cut of rewards before they are distributed. Rewards run at roughly 12β16% net of commission, falling as more ATOM is bonded, and the calculator on this page is prefilled with 13% so you can change it to whatever your validator or platform actually quotes. 21 days to unbond, with no way to shorten it and no rewards earned while the queue runs. Slashing is real: a validator that double-signs is penalised on its entire delegated stake, including yours, so validator choice matters more here than on chains without it. Staking is native to the protocol here, so you are not relying on a third party's wrapper.
οΌWhich ATOM calculator should I use?
There are 6 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live ATOM price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the ATOM price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the ATOMUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
