About Ethereum Classic
Ethereum Classic is the chain that kept going after the 2016 DAO hack, when the majority forked to reverse the theft and a minority refused on the principle that the ledger should be immutable. It never moved to proof-of-stake, so it remained a home for GPU miners after Ethereum's Merge in 2022. Unlike Ethereum it has a fixed monetary policy: the block reward drops 20% every five million blocks, capping supply at roughly 210.7 million ETC.
ETC gas is far cheaper than Ethereum's simply because the chain is much less used β the trade-off is a proportionally smaller security budget.
ETC often rallies as a sympathy trade on Ethereum news rather than on anything of its own, and it has suffered 51% attacks in the past.

Frequently asked questions
οΌHow many ETC are there?
157.7 million ETC were in circulation as of 5 August 2026, against a maximum of 210.7 million β so 74.8% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 53 million still to come. The remaining 25.2% still has to reach the market at some point, which is a slow headwind rather than an event.
οΌCan I stake ETC?
None β ETC is mined. That is why there is no ETC staking calculator here: the tool reports rewards in units of the coin you staked, so it only covers networks that pay in that same asset. Publishing a page where the dollar figure was right and the unit was wrong would be worse than leaving it out.
οΌWhich ETC calculator should I use?
There are 5 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live ETC price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the ETC price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the ETCUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
