About Polygon
Polygon is an Ethereum scaling ecosystem built around the Polygon PoS chain and the AggLayer, which aims to make separate chains feel like one. Its token changed identity rather than its chain: MATIC was replaced one-for-one by POL, a migration that reached 99% completion in September 2025, with legacy MATIC emissions ending in July 2025. POL carries a deliberate 2% annual emission β split between validator rewards and a community treasury β so unlike MATIC it is an inflationary token by design.
Transactions on the Polygon PoS chain cost fractions of a cent, but staking and unstaking happen on Ethereum β budget for L1 gas on those operations specifically.
POL has trailed the broader market since the migration, and it trades as a leveraged bet on Ethereum-scaling demand rather than on its own cycle.

Frequently asked questions
οΌDoes POL have a maximum supply?
No fixed cap is published for Polygon, which is why no maximum is shown on this page β we leave the figure out rather than invent a denominator. Circulating supply was 10.69 billion POL as of 3 August 2026. Without a cap, the number that matters is the net issuance rate: new supply minus anything burned, as a percentage per year.
οΌCan I stake POL, and what does it pay?
Yes. Delegate POL to a validator through Polygon's staking contracts, which live on Ethereum β so delegating and claiming cost Ethereum gas, not Polygon gas. Rewards come from the emission plus a share of fees, less the validator's commission. Rewards run at roughly 2.5β4.5% since legacy MATIC emissions ended in July 2025, and the calculator on this page is prefilled with 3% so you can change it to whatever your validator or platform actually quotes. Unbonding runs about 80 checkpoints, which works out at roughly three to four days on mainnet, and the clock restarts each time you submit a new unstake. Rewards that were never re-delegated are not subject to the wait. Staking is native to the protocol here, so you are not relying on a third party's wrapper.
οΌWhich POL calculator should I use?
There are 6 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live POL price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the POL price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the POLUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
