About Mantle

Mantle is a layer 2 that grew out of BitDAO, whose BIT token was converted into MNT along with one of the largest treasuries in the industry. It differs from Arbitrum and Optimism in a way that matters day to day: MNT is the gas token on Mantle, so using the chain requires holding it. Mantle also separates data availability from Ethereum, posting to an external DA layer to cut costs β€” a modular choice with a different trust profile from posting straight to Ethereum.

Mantle transactions are cheap because data goes to an external availability layer rather than to Ethereum directly β€” cheaper, with a correspondingly different set of assumptions.

MNT trades partly on the size and composition of the treasury behind it, which makes it behave a little like a closed-end fund.

Frequently asked questions

οΌ‹How many MNT are there?

3.3 billion MNT were in circulation as of 5 August 2026, against a maximum of 6.22 billion β€” so 53.1% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 2.92 billion still to come. That is a large share still to arrive, and it is worth knowing on what schedule before treating the current price as the settled one.

οΌ‹Can I stake MNT?

None for MNT itself. That is why there is no MNT staking calculator here: the tool reports rewards in units of the coin you staked, so it only covers networks that pay in that same asset. Publishing a page where the dollar figure was right and the unit was wrong would be worse than leaving it out.

οΌ‹Which MNT calculator should I use?

There are 5 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live MNT price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β€” nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

οΌ‹Where does the MNT price on this page come from?

Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button. There is no Binance fallback for MNT β€” it has no pair there, so the page asks CoinGecko only rather than requesting a pair that does not exist. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
