About Hedera
Hedera is not a blockchain in the usual sense: it uses the hashgraph consensus algorithm, an asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerant design that gossips transactions between nodes rather than chaining blocks. Governance sits with the Hedera Council, a fixed-term group of large organisations that runs the network's nodes and sets parameters including the staking reward rate. Its entire 50 billion supply was minted at genesis, so nothing new is ever created β 'issuance' is only the release of pre-minted treasury coins.
Hedera fees are quoted in fixed US-dollar terms β a fraction of a cent for a transfer β so they neither spike with congestion nor scale with the HBAR price.
HBAR is heavily driven by enterprise-adoption and council-membership news, which makes it prone to gapping on announcements rather than drifting.

Frequently asked questions
οΌHow many HBAR are there?
43.79 billion HBAR were in circulation as of 3 August 2026, against a maximum of 50 billion β so 87.6% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 6.21 billion still to come. The remaining 12.4% still has to reach the market at some point, which is a slow headwind rather than an event.
οΌCan I stake HBAR, and what does it pay?
Yes. Stake your account to a consensus node from your wallet. The whole account balance is staked, the coins never move, and you keep custody throughout β this is proxy staking, not a deposit into a contract. Rewards run at roughly 2β3%, set by the Hedera Council rather than by an inflation formula, and the calculator on this page is prefilled with 2.5% so you can change it to whatever your validator or platform actually quotes. None. Hedera's documentation states there is no lock-up period when accounts are staked to a node, and the balance is liquid at all times. There is also no slashing mechanism in the staking programme. Staking is native to the protocol here, so you are not relying on a third party's wrapper.
οΌWhich HBAR calculator should I use?
There are 6 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live HBAR price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the HBAR price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the HBARUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
