About Monero

Monero hides sender, receiver and amount on every transaction β€” there is no transparent mode to fall back to, which is the main thing separating it from Zcash. Its RandomX proof-of-work is tuned for ordinary CPUs, deliberately making ASIC mining uneconomic. Monero has no hard cap: after the main emission curve ended in 2022 it settled into a permanent tail emission of 0.6 XMR per block, so miners keep earning once fees alone would not pay them.

Monero transactions are larger than Bitcoin's because of the privacy machinery, but fees stay low. Note that XMR is not listed on Binance, so liquidity sits on other venues and spreads can be wider.

XMR reacts to exchange delistings and regulatory news more sharply than to the general market β€” several of its largest single-day moves have had nothing to do with Bitcoin.

Frequently asked questions

οΌ‹Does XMR have a maximum supply?

No fixed cap is published for Monero, which is why no maximum is shown on this page β€” we leave the figure out rather than invent a denominator. Circulating supply was 18.79 million XMR as of 5 August 2026. Without a cap, the number that matters is the net issuance rate: new supply minus anything burned, as a percentage per year.

οΌ‹Can I stake XMR?

None β€” XMR is mined. That is why there is no XMR staking calculator here: the tool reports rewards in units of the coin you staked, so it only covers networks that pay in that same asset. Publishing a page where the dollar figure was right and the unit was wrong would be worse than leaving it out.

οΌ‹Which XMR calculator should I use?

There are 5 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live XMR price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β€” nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

οΌ‹Where does the XMR price on this page come from?

Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button. There is no Binance fallback for XMR β€” it has no pair there, so the page asks CoinGecko only rather than requesting a pair that does not exist. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
