About Aave
Aave is the biggest decentralised money market, where deposits earn interest and are borrowed against collateral. The token does more than vote: AAVE staked in the Safety Module acts as a backstop, and can be slashed by up to 30% to cover a shortfall if the protocol ends up with bad debt. That makes Safety Module staking a genuine underwriting position rather than a passive yield, which is worth understanding before treating the APR as free money.
AAVE is an Ethereum token, so transfers cost Ethereum gas; the protocol runs on cheaper layer 2s where borrowing costs far less to manage.
AAVE tracks DeFi risk appetite and total value locked, and reacts to any headline about bad debt in lending markets β including other protocols'.

Frequently asked questions
οΌHow many AAVE are there?
15.42 million AAVE were in circulation as of 5 August 2026, against a maximum of 16 million β so 96.4% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 580,000 still to come. At that point issuance is close to finished, so future supply growth is not a meaningful factor in the price.
οΌCan I stake AAVE, and what does it pay?
Yes. Stake AAVE in the Safety Module, which backstops the protocol against a shortfall event. Rewards run at mid single digits, set by governance, and the calculator on this page is prefilled with 5% so you can change it to whatever your validator or platform actually quotes. A cooldown must be started before you can withdraw, and there is only a limited window to withdraw once it ends. Staking is native to the protocol here, so you are not relying on a third party's wrapper.
οΌWhich AAVE calculator should I use?
There are 6 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live AAVE price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.
οΌWhere does the AAVE price on this page come from?
Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the AAVEUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
