About Lido DAO

Lido lets you stake ETH without running a validator or locking 32 ETH, handing back stETH which keeps earning while remaining tradeable. It is by a wide margin the largest staking provider on Ethereum, which is also the main criticism of it β€” a single protocol controlling a large share of validators is a centralisation concern the community argues about constantly. The thing to be clear on: LDO is the governance token, stETH is the staked asset, and only stETH earns the staking yield.

LDO is an Ethereum token with ordinary gas costs; staking or unstaking ETH through Lido carries its own gas plus the protocol's fee on rewards.

LDO trades on Ethereum staking flows and on governance proposals about the protocol's fee, and has fallen hard on competition from restaking products.

Frequently asked questions

οΌ‹How many LDO are there?

836.3 million LDO were in circulation as of 5 August 2026, against a maximum of 1 billion β€” so 83.6% of everything that will ever exist has already been issued, leaving 163.7 million still to come. The remaining 16.4% still has to reach the market at some point, which is a slow headwind rather than an event.

οΌ‹Can I stake LDO?

stETH β€” LDO itself earns no staking yield. That is why there is no LDO staking calculator here: the tool reports rewards in units of the coin you staked, so it only covers networks that pay in that same asset. Publishing a page where the dollar figure was right and the unit was wrong would be worse than leaving it out.

οΌ‹Which LDO calculator should I use?

There are 5 on this page and they answer different questions. Start from what you are actually asking: what a past purchase would be worth now, what a position is worth today, where a leveraged position gets liquidated, or what regular buying would have produced. Each opens with the live LDO price already filled in, and every calculation runs in your browser β€” nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is stored.

οΌ‹Where does the LDO price on this page come from?

Live from CoinGecko when you press the price button, with the LDOUSDT pair on Binance as a fallback if that request fails. The request happens in your browser and carries nothing about you; if both fail the calculator keeps working with whatever figure you type in.
